Terms

Last updated October 20, 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and Vent, which is run by an individual in the United States. By creating an account or using Vent, you accept them and the privacy policy. If you don't agree, please don't use Vent.

Who can use Vent

You must be 18 or older. One account per person, used only by you. You are responsible for what happens under your account, so keep your Google account secure.

Your content

Your records, photos, builds, posts and listings belong to you. You give Vent permission to store them, process them to run the app (for example, to work out your costs), and show them to the people you choose to share them with. That permission ends when you delete the content or your account, except for the community posts and conversations that stay after an account is deleted, as the privacy policy describes.

Only upload what you have the right to share. Don't post other people's personal information, such as a license plate with an owner's name or an address, without their permission.

Numbers and reminders are a guide

Costs, rates, loan figures and maintenance reminders are worked out from what you enter, and are only as accurate as those entries. They are for your information, not mechanical, financial, tax or legal advice. A reminder can be late, early or missing, so don't rely on Vent alone for maintenance that affects safety.

Community rules

In the forum, comments, builds and the Marketplace, don't:

  • Harass, threaten or abuse anyone, or attack people for who they are
  • Post anything illegal, sexual content, or content that encourages dangerous or illegal driving
  • Spam, advertise outside the Marketplace, or post the same thing over and over
  • Pretend to be someone else, or mislead people about a vehicle or item
  • Try to get around limits, bans or access rules, collect other members' information, or interfere with how Vent runs

Members can report anything that breaks these rules. Moderators can remove content and take away a member's access to the community features. A community ban does not touch your garage: you can still see, add to, download and delete your own records.

The Marketplace

Vent only hosts listings and the messages between buyers and sellers. Vent is not a party to any sale, does not handle payments, and does not check items, vehicles, sellers or buyers. Any deal is between you and the other person, at your own risk.

  • List only things you own and are allowed to sell, and describe them honestly.
  • Don't list stolen, counterfeit or illegal items, or anything you can't legally sell where you are.
  • Listings expire after 30 days unless you renew them, and moderators can remove a listing that breaks these terms.
  • Meet in a safe public place, check what you are buying, and never send money in advance to someone you don't know.

Changes to Vent

Vent is free to use today. If paid features are added, what they cost and include will be clear before you pay, and nothing already stored will be taken away. Vent may change or stop features, or stop running altogether. If Vent shuts down, you will be told in advance and given time to download your data.

No guarantees

Vent is provided as it is, without guarantees that it will always be available, free of errors, or right for your purposes. To the extent the law allows, Vent is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost data or lost profits, and its total liability to you is limited to the greater of what you paid Vent in the previous 12 months or $50. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.

Ending your use

You can delete your account at any time from your account settings. Vent can suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms; where it can, Vent will explain why and let you download your records first.

Law and changes to these terms

These terms are governed by the laws of [state to come], United States. If they change, the date at the top changes too, and changes that affect your rights will be announced in the app before they take effect. Using Vent after that means you accept the new terms.
